PAINTINGS
and DRAWINGS
Marilynn's paintings
and drawings reflect her 30-year love affair
with nature. As an artist, Marilynn is already well-known for her landscape
paintings,
which showcase the beauty of nature in national parks and preserves all over
the U.S. Currently Marilynn is focusing on the three areas that have become
her favorites to visit and paint year after year: the Lake Superior shore,
the Southern Appalachians and the Florida Gulf Coast.

|
Ever since her 1997 artist's residency at Isle Royale National Park,
Marilynn has been returning to Lake Superior for inspiration. Her growing
collection of paintings of the lake and surrounding areas showcases one
of the best examples of beautiful, unspoiled wilderness remaining in the
Midwest. |
|
Marilynn's botanical paintings celebrate the wildflowers and gardens
of North America in botanically accurate, but painterly expressions. Like
the landscapes, they are primarily from the Lake Superior shore, the Southern
Appalachians and the Florida Gulf Coast, but offer a more intimate view
of those places. |
|
In addition to landscape and botanicals, Marilynn's attention turns frequently
to the time-honored genre of still-life
painting, finding beauty in arrangements
of shells or rocks or hand-made objects. Exqusitely designed, her paintings
evoke order, serenity and the beauty of form. |
|
During her painting treks to the lake, the mountains and the coast, Marilynn
stays in rustic cabins whose charm and rich history engage her almost as
much as the natural world surrounding them. Illuminated by natural light
and rendered with loving detail, her paintings of these simple places take
on an aura both inviting and mysterious. |
